Dance Energy gets Database Support
Dance Energy, a local company which specialises in professional choreography and dance training, has benefited from working with the Swansea Bay IT Support Centre. The business, run by Sarah Morris, was struggling with the information which was used to manage their business.
Calculating fees for the students involved a complex set of formulae and a number of crib sheets to help them manage these calculations. In addition the business needed to provide records of who was attending the sessions, additional costs for costumes and materials and records of payments.
A great deal of research was undertaken by Sarah Morris (the proprietor of Dance Energy), to find cost effective systems which would suit her needs. The cost of many of these systems was prohibitive and she was not able to find a solution which fitted her financial model.
Laurence Thomas from the Swansea Bay IT Support Centre helped the business by developing a small Microsoft Access database to assist with the management of the business data and perform the complex calculations based on the parameters of the customer. This system was also used to manage the payments and report on what was owed to the business.
The overall effect on the business was to improve their ability to track the financial status of the business in a more controlled way, and manage the business information to allow future mail shots based on the attendance of the classes.
