Picture Framing Company finds Success on the Web
Alan Sturk runs a successful picture framing and mounts business in the Swansea area. Gallery 28 has been in existence since 1977, when Mr Sturk moved down to the city. The company specialises in creating hand-drawn mounts for picture frames. As his website says,
“Mountlines provide beveled edge mounts in any size with choice of line, wash and ink borders…Hand cut mounts with hand drawn lines and water colour washes ensure that the mount looks in keeping with the original painting or art work. Lines on a mount accentuate the work ‘inside’ the window“
Last year Alan approached Swansea Bay IT Support Centre for assistance, through the Opportunity Wales scheme, in developing a website presence and for a laptop machine to enable him to update his site. With the help of eBusiness Consultant Alun John, Mr Sturk was able to develop a website strategy and ended up selecting Asplash web developers, based in Mid Wales, who have a pedigree in developing arts-related websites.
The website, called Mountlines.com includes a shopping cart and allows Mr Sturk to add/modify products from any PC or laptop. The payment provider that he uses for the site is Protx, a system which even allows him to take credit card payments from clients at his shop.To date he has been able to sell a number of products all over the UK and one client even drove from Reading to discuss work with him.
